As part of the Pedagogical Design Studio activities coordinated by the Office of Education and Instruction at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University (NEVÜ), the “Instructional Awareness through Creative Drama Workshop” was held on 9 April 2026. Conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergin Erginer, the workshop attracted significant interest from academics and researchers representing a variety of disciplines.
The workshop began with a series of interactive activities designed to help participants become acquainted with one another. Throughout the program, participants' expectations were identified and incorporated into the learning process to encourage active engagement. Comprehensive discussions were also held on the role of creative drama in education, its areas of application, and its theoretical foundations.
The practical component of the workshop emphasized activities based on music and movement. Participants engaged in pairing, orientation, and coordination exercises that promoted collaboration and group interaction. Through trust-based activities, they had the opportunity to develop cooperation, concentration, and adaptability skills. In addition, small-group creative dramatization activities encouraged participants to represent everyday objects through body language, thereby fostering abstract thinking and creativity. A collaborative group scene creation activity involving all participants provided an effective learning environment that promoted teamwork and collective knowledge construction.
One of the most distinctive aspects of the workshop was that academics temporarily moved beyond their traditional role as instructors and experienced the learning process from the perspective of learners. This experience enabled participants to gain deeper insight into students' learning processes and to evaluate classroom dynamics from a different perspective. During the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergin Erginer emphasized the importance of empathy, flexibility, and positive communication in teaching, highlighting the positive impact of student-centered approaches on learning outcomes.
At the conclusion of the program, participants expressed their satisfaction with the workshop, stating that it had been highly beneficial in enhancing pedagogical awareness and providing practical experiences that could be effectively incorporated into their own teaching practices.
