03/07/2026

The “Instructional Awareness through Creative Drama Workshop”, organized as part of the Pedagogical Design Studio coordinated by the Office of Education and Instruction at Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University (NEVÜ), was successfully completed following an intensive three-week interactive program. Conducted under the supervision of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergin Erginer, the workshop series brought together faculty members from various academic units across the University, providing an interdisciplinary environment for learning and professional exchange.

The program attracted academics and researchers from diverse disciplines, including natural sciences, health sciences, engineering, and educational sciences. Throughout the workshop, the role of creative drama in teaching and learning processes was examined from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Through activities based on music, movement, and interaction, participants had the opportunity to develop and strengthen their communication, cooperation, attention, adaptability, and empathy skills. Small-group activities, improvisational performances, and collaborative scene-building exercises further supported participants' creative thinking and self-expression.

One of the most distinctive features of the workshop was that faculty members stepped beyond their traditional role as instructors and experienced the learning process from the perspective of students. This enabled participants to gain a deeper understanding of students' learning experiences, emotional responses, and the challenges they encounter throughout the educational process. The program also included comprehensive activities designed to enhance participants' observational skills, flexible thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities while encouraging the adoption of a student-centered approach to teaching and the integration of drama-based instructional techniques into university courses.

Following the completion of the three-week program, certificates of participation were presented to the participants by Prof. Dr. Mutluhan Akın, Vice Rector of Nevşehir Hacı Bektaş Veli University, during the closing ceremony. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Akın emphasized the importance of innovative approaches in teaching and learning and noted that professional development activities of this nature make a significant contribution to the University's quality assurance and educational enhancement processes.

At the conclusion of the program, participants stated that the workshop had been highly beneficial in fostering pedagogical awareness, providing practical and experience-based learning opportunities, and offering new perspectives on teaching practices.

In his closing evaluation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergin Erginer, Vice Coordinator for Education and Instruction, stated that similar workshops for academic staff and students would continue in the future. He also emphasized that the University aims to expand innovative, active learning-based teaching practices across its educational programs.
